The Struggle

Every day people are struggling with things you have no idea about. This is no excuse or reason to act out, but it is a reality that so many people choose to ignore. This is something that isn’t discussed enough and that can go unnoticed so easily. My own personal struggles have led me to adopt a saying I heard, “It isn’t your fault but it is your responsibility”.

That mind state has helped push through the hard times and use it to my advantage. Embracing the suck and using that negative mindset has led me to write situations and mental states of characters in a way I would not have been able to if I was not there myself. The struggle doesn’t end with you, you see it have an impact on those around you once you finally snap out of it.

When it comes to writing, in particular, it can be detrimental to your end goal. Not having any motivation to write can make it easy to put off, but realizing what is going on and using writing as a cathartic relief can be something that helps push you forward. That cathartic release, whether it is from writing or something else, can make all the difference in the world. That, unfortunately, usually starts with having people around you that understand what you are going through.

Don’t get so distracted fighting the alligators that you forget to clean the swamp. Meaning, don’t get so caught up with your problems and dealing with them that you forget your mission. Sometimes we forget why we do what we do, but just sitting down and writing, or whatever it is that you do to release, can have a much more significant impact than you think. This is a dilemma I see so many individuals deal with and that I rarely hear talked about. Don’t forget that even the smallest steps forward are better than not moving at all.

Until next time.

Cheers,
Bryant
